The Premier League is the biggest sport league in the world, yet England’s top-flight has taken a back seat this weekend for the finale of the 2021 Formula 1 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The final race of the campaign saw Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen go head-to-head on the same number of points in a final showdown for the F1 title. And after a tense race, it was the Red Bull prodigy who claimed the world championship in the final lap.

The popularity of F1 has exploded over the past 12 months, and fans both old and new were gifted with a championship race for the ages which concluded this weekend in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. And some famous faces were in attendance.

However, for Manchester City fans, the big image from the day was posted by the club’s official Twitter account as Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards and Sergio Aguero were all spotted at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The three players all played a key role in the club’s first Premier League title win in 2012. And City fans on social media loved that the trio had reunited in Abu Dhabi for the Grand Prix.

It has been a good weekend for City, with Raheem Sterling’s penalty being the only difference on Saturday in their 1-0 win against Wolves. The result keeps Pep Guardiola’s side top of the Premier League table.
