Liverpool fans have been left delighted with claims that Joel Matip will return for their game against Manchester United.
The Daily Mirror suggest that Matip will be fit enough to feature for Liverpool in the crunch tie, with his return on schedule.
Liverpool have seen their lead at the top of the table cut into by United, and the Red Devils will actually overtake them with a victory in two weekends’ time.
But it seems that Matip will be fit and ready to go, in what looks a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
And Liverpool supporters are certainly relieved to hear the news, ahead of their most important game of the season to date.
If Matip is fit enough to feature as expected then Liverpool’s defence will have a far more familiar feel to it.
Jordan Henderson had to step into Liverpool’s backline in the Reds last game, but he never truly looked comfortable out of his usual midfield position.
Liverpool’s options are so short at the back currently, that if Matip was to miss out, Klopp may have to back either Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips to start, in what would be the biggest game of their career to date.
