Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Goal revealed that Brazilian legend Claudio Taffarel has joined Jürgen Klopp’s staff.
What’s the story?
Well, Goal believe the 55-year-old arrives at Anfield following a recommendation from Alisson.
The Liverpool glovesman works alongside Taffarel with the Brazil national team, and they will now link up on Merseyside as well after he was awarded a work permit.
Interestingly, the 1994 World Cup winner will not be replacing anyone.
Taffarel will work alongside the current goalkeeping coaches in John Achterberg and Jack Robinson.
The South American will also remain in his role with the Brazil national team – he’ll juggle the two jobs like a player would when jetting off to international duty.
What can Claudio Taffarel bring to Liverpool?

For a start, Taffarel is one of the biggest names in Brazilian football, so his presence alone makes Liverpool more attractive to South Americans.
The Santa Rosa-born legend should also be able to offer a huge amount of assistance in the development of Liverpool’s 18-year-old Brazilian goalkeeping prodigy Marcelo Pitaluga.
Goal believe Taffarel visited the AXA Training Centre last week, and his arrival has now been made official within the club.

It will be interesting to see if Taffarel can help to persuade South American targets to join Liverpool, such is his stature in the game.
One Liverpool fan below echoed that claim, and described the goalkeeping coach as a ‘big voice in our corner’ – you can say that again.
Let’s see what some more Liverpool supporters on Twitter have been saying about Taffarel…
