Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has said that Nottingham Forest wanted to sign him in the January transfer window.

Butland has noted the response from Rangers when it was presented to the Gers that Forest wanted him.

So, what has Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland said about Nottingham Forest? Let’s take a look.

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland had a chance to join Nottingham Forest

Well, Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has said that Nottingham Forest wanted to sign him in the January transfer window.

Butland has claimed that his agent told him that Forest were interested in him, but the goalkeeper turned it down.

The former Manchester United loanee has also said that Rangers were not willing to sell him in the middle of the season.

The Sun has quoted Butland as saying: “It was a straight no. My agent said ‘This is happening, what do you want to do?’

“I said ‘No’ and he said ‘I agree’. The club had said no anyway so it was just a no on all fronts from the get-go – and that was that.

“We were actually with the team, I think it was deadline day. We were all out altogether at a team event and that was that. There wasn’t even a chance. I’m enjoying it. There is too much to achieve, there is too much left to do.”

My View: Jack Butland was right to stay at Rangers

In my opinion, Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland made the right decision in staying at Ibrox and not moving to Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window.

Butland joined Rangers only in the summer of 2023 and is the number one goalkeeper for the Gers at the moment.

The former Manchester United loanee has made 27 appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season.

Butland also played in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers and the group stage of the UEFA Europa League for the Scottish giants.

Rangers are a massive club and could beat Old Firm rivals Celtic, who want to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, to the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Yes, Forest are playing in the Premier League at the moment, there is a very good chance that they could get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Butland is 30 now and has already played in the Premier League with various clubs, including Crystal Palace, so there is really no great need for him to return to the English top flight anytime soon.
