Many Arsenal fans feel that Joe Willock being open to a move to Newcastle United is ‘good news’ for them.
The Northern Echo has reported that Willock is prepared to leave Arsenal to join Newcastle on a long-term basis.
The midfielder has enjoyed a brilliant loan spell at St. James’ Park, with Steve Bruce already stating that he wants to discuss signing him with Arsenal at the end of the season.
While Willock’s form surely must have impressed every Arsenal fan, there is a feeling that selling him may be the best option for the club.
Willock’s value has risen due to his form out on loan and Arsenal need to raise funds for their own additions.
Mikel Arteta appears to be planning to make wholesale changes.
And the fact that Willock is not intent on sticking around at Arsenal and fighting for his place has gone down well as a result, as many Gunners supporters feel that moving him on will be best for all parties.
There is merit to both arguments in terms of Arsenal keeping and selling Willock.
He looks to be one of their most valuable fringe players right now, and if they could fetch big money for a player who is yet to really make a big impact in their first-team that would be a huge bonus.
However, if Willock sustains his current form then Arsenal may well regret letting him go – as they don’t posses a whole host of goalscoring midfielders right now.
