Another transfer window begins, and Liverpool are being linked with Philippe Coutinho again.

This time it is AS who say that Barcelona have proposed that Liverpool re-sign Coutinho, after selling him in 2018.

Barca still owe £50 million to Liverpool from the first transfer and reportedly have offered Coutinho back, in the hope of eliminating those fees.

That would cost the Reds money, but provide them with a seriously talented player on a free transfer.

And there are plenty of Liverpool fans who feel that bringing Coutinho back would be a great option.

Appealing addition?

The appeal of bringing Coutinho back to Liverpool is clear to see, despite his struggles in recent years.

The Brazilian hasn’t been the same player since leaving Anfield but he is still only 28.

If Jurgen Klopp could restore him to his best, then Coutinho could offer Liverpool far more creativity and goal threat in the final third.

During his first stint on Merseyside, Coutinho was one of the stars of the Premier League, and there is no reason to believe he couldn’t reach those heights again at a place he was loved.

Liverpool don’t have another natural playmaker in their squad, so even if Klopp’s side don’t sign Coutinho, a number 10 may well be on their wishlist this summer.
