
Newcastle coach Graeme Jones has given his reason why Federico Fernandez has not featured at all for the Toon since taking over interim charge of the club.
Speaking to the Chronicle, the Magpies coach claimed that there was no need for Fernandez to be involved on a Newcastle matchday if the £45k-a-week defender was not starting from the off.
The former Swansea City centre-back has not featured for Newcastle since Jones’ appointment as interim manager. Even with Fernandez wearing the captain’s armband twice this season.

With Newcastle failing to keep a clean sheet at all this season, the Magpies have been atrocious at the back in recent months. With supporters hopeful that a centre-back can be brought in in January.
