Some Everton fans on social media are far from happy after it was reported by the Telegraph that they’ve made contact with Rafa Benitez with a view to becoming their next manager.
You can understand exactly why Everton fans weren’t best pleased with this idea. After all, Benitez is a former Liverpool manager, and he’s still adored by the Toffees’ biggest rivals.
Appointing Benitez at Goodison Park would certainly be a controversial call, and judging by the reaction on social media, there’d be uproar if he was brought in.
There’s absolutely no doubting Benitez’s credentials as a manager. He’s a former La Liga winner and a Champions League winner, but due to his links to Liverpool, the blue half of Merseyside may not be willing to accept him.
We’re sure that opinions could change rather quickly if Benitez had a strong start to life in the job at Goodison Park, but for now, Toffees supporters aren’t keen on the idea.
