Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Frederic Guilbert had joined Strasbourg on a season-long loan.
What’s the story?
Well, no sooner has the 26-year-old returned to Villa Park, he’s now being shipped away from the Midlands once again.
Guilbert spent time on loan at Strasbourg last season, making 13 appearances in Ligue 1 before returning to Aston Villa.
The Valognes-born defender has only made one appearance so far this season, which came in the 6-0 Carabao Cup win over Barrow.
In that game, Guilbert – who earns £40,000-a-week – scored a goal, and assisted another in a fine individual display.
Clearly, that wasn’t enough to convince Dean Smith.
Why did Aston Villa loan Frederic Guilbert out again?

Smith surely can’t be convinced by the Frenchman.
Not too long after signing him in a deal worth £5m, the Villans boss then sent him away to Strasbourg, as aforesaid.
Smith also spent another £16m to sign Matty Cash, who has shoved Guilbert out of the starting XI completely.
Now, despite the fact there isn’t much cover for Cash at right-back, Aston Villa are still happy to leave themselves light in that area.

In our view, that says a lot about how the Villans view Guilbert.
Interestingly, the supporters disagree with his exit, and believe he should’ve been kept at Villa Park.
Let’s see what the Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been saying about the club’s announcement…
