By virtue of the fact that Eric Dier is Tottenham Hotspur’s most creative player, you could say it’s been a pretty poor season for the North Londoners thus far.

Spurs are eighth in the Premier League table and have only scored six goals in their first seven games.

One reason for that is Harry Kane – who is yet to score – hasn’t been firing on all cylinders but, going deeper, there’s a major creative issue at Tottenham.

That’s because Eric Dier, a centre-back, tops the chart of Lilywhites players when it comes to big chances created – and it’s only two.

That right illustrates a serious problem inside Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

And here’s how some fans of the North London club reacted to it on Twitter:

Vital

This statistic is symptomatic of the problem that Nuno has right now and it’s paramount that it’s resolved.

The Portuguese coach does have good midfielders, like Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani lo Celso, but they aren’t performing well.

This is a systematic problem for Nuno, not strictly a personnel one.

Even if they signed a Kevin de Bruyne, he is pointless if the system isn’t designed well enough for attacking football and that should be Nuno’s focus.
