Herbie Kane looks set to leave Liverpool.
According to Goal, the 21-year-old midfielder is ‘on the brink’ of joining Barnsley in a £1.25 million permanent deal.
Kane has enjoyed a couple of successful loan spells away from Liverpool in recent years.
But it’s been clear for a while that the Kirkby academy graduate was going to struggle in a major way to break into Jurgen Klopp’s senior squad.
And at 21, regular football is a must for the youngster.
Here’s how Liverpool fans are reacting on Twitter to that potential exit:
Kane, who has impressed with Hull City and Doncaster Rovers in seasons gone by, has made his senior debut for Liverpool.
He made two appearances in the Reds’ League Cup campaign last season, facing MK Dons and then starting and finishing the 5-0 drubbing away to Aston Villa last December.
The Tykes are a Championship club and one who resume their season with a visit of Bristol City tomorrow afternoon, but it remains to be seen if Kane will be registered in time to make his debut.
