Rangers fans have taken to Twitter in fury after the Scottish Football Association charged Kemar Roofe with violent conduct.
The 28-year-old has been charged following his studs-up lunge on Murray Davidson in the 1-0 win over St Johnstone on Wednesday.
Roofe initially received a yellow card for the challenge, although after further inspection, the SFA have decided on a harsher punishment.
A fast track hearing will take place on February 9th to decide whether or not the former Leeds striker will receive a ban, according to the Daily Record.
Now, this is particularly baffling.

The incident happened right under the referee’s nose, and he clearly saw enough of the challenge to deem it worthy of a yellow card.
In that respect, it does feel as if the SFA are undermining their man in this sense, by altering his decision after full-time.
Admittedly, it was a bad challenge which probably deserved a red card at the time.

However, seeing as the referee dealt with the incident and didn’t miss it altogether, it feels unnecessary to revisit the offence.
If the SFA had any sense, they would back their referee’s initial decision, and draw a line under the whole situation.
Let’s see what the livid Rangers fans have been saying about Roofe’s charge…
