Arsenal and Liverpool are both heavily linked with a move for Yves Bissouma during this summer.
According to The Times in May, both Premier League clubs are keen on signing the 24-year-old.
Bissouma was arguably Brighton’s best player last term and dazzled in their end-of-season defeat away to Arsenal only last weekend.
On the same day, Georginio Wijnaldum bid farewell to Liverpool and strengthened the suggestion that a midfielder – somebody of Bissouma’s ilk – was also needed at Anfield.
Earlier today, the player himself posted quite a cryptic tweet – and more significantly, included that ‘signing’ emoji at the end.
The exact context remains to be seen, but what isn’t up for debate is the fact that it got some Arsenal and Liverpool supporters talking on Twitter.
Who needs him more?
Both Liverpool and Arsenal may be losing important midfielders.
We know Wijnaldum is leaving Merseyside but there’s also a lot of speculation about Granit Xhaka quitting North London for Roma.
But there’s no doubt that Liverpool – who have Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Curits Jones, Fabinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – have much more midfield options than their Emirates Stadium counterparts and therefore it’s plausible that Mikel Arteta needs him a lot more.
