Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to discuss what Mesut Özil tweeted yesterday, and they think they’ve spotted something.

The German posted a throwback photo of himself in Istanbul, which made some supporters think he’s heading to Turkey.

In fact, it was even reported that Fenerbahce are 90% confident of getting a deal done for the former Real Madrid maestro.

A congress member of the Super Lig outfit told Sport Digitale: ‘A source who’s very well connected to the club has told me that Mesut Özil is likely to become a Fenerbahçe player during the next transfer window. I would say 90% he will join us in one month.’

In truth, it could mean absolutely nothing, and Özil might just be reminiscing about a city close to his heart.

However, tweeting something like that during a transfer window is almost bound to get plenty of people talking.

If it isn’t to Turkey, then it looks like the 32-year-old could be off to America with DC United.

Football London revealed that the Arsenal No.10 is in negotiations with the Major League Soccer outfit, who have offered the promotion of his M10 brand.

Additionally, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted that the Gunners are hoping to sell Özil as soon as possible.

It’s very feasible, in our view, that the German leaves north London this month – Arsenal fans have surely watched his last game for the Gunners.

Let’s see what they’ve been saying about his cryptic tweet…
