Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Antonio Conte has been talking about Oliver Skipp and his injury situation.

The midfielder has been out of action for quite some time now, and sadly, the manager doesn’t seem to have any idea when he’ll be back in action.

Indeed, Conte says that he can’t give a timeframe on when Skipp will be back in action, and he’s very worried about that.

What’s been said?

Conte spoke about Skipp.

“For sure I am worried because he started with a groin pain and then we are talking about two months that he is out. I don’t have many midfielders, there is Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Skipp and Winks, to miss for a lot of time is not simple and I have to hope not to have an injury for our midfielders. It happened, Bentancur had problems and we only had two midfielders. This is a problem,” Conte said.

“I am a bit worried, in my mind, in the mind of my players, there is the desire to come back very soon. In this moment, if you ask me a forecast about his return, I don’t have an answer. For this reason, I am really worried, we are talking about a player who was playing very well and we need another midfielder.”

Serious

This is very worrying.

When a player is out of action for some time there’s reason for concern, but when the physios can’t tell the manager when he’ll be back, there’s reason to panic.

We hate to say it, but Skipp could be out of action for quite some time, and if he doesn’t show progress soon, he may have to have surgery on his groin.

Fingers crossed it doesn’t come to that, but his current prognosis doesn’t sound good at all.

Skipp is only 21, and he’s already been described as ‘very good’, and sadly, this bump in the road will not be aiding his development.
