Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish may have had a hugely impressive international break, but most England fans couldn’t believe that he was given Man of the Match ahead of Phil Foden last night.

The Villa man was selected to be given the award via a Twitter poll, but many supporters suggested after that Foden had been cruelly overlooked.

Foden scored twice and claimed an assist as England beat Iceland 4-0.

And many Three Lions supporters were stunned by England announced that Grealish had been given the Man of the Match award ahead of him.

England fans’ shock at the award was shared by Grealish, who posted his bewilderment at getting the award of Foden on his Instagram story after the game.

The vote does show how the Villa man has become hugely popular over the recent international break, though.

Grealish has started England’s last three games and been one of the standout players in all of them.

The Villa man will now return to club action at the weekend, with Dean Smith’s side set to take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
