Maybe Arsenal should’ve signed Patson Daka after all.
The Gunners were linked with a move for the now-Leicester City hitman during the summer of 2020.
According to Far Post in Zambia, the 23-year-old was very much on Arsenal’s radar of that transfer window.
But Edu and Mikel Arteta failed to bring him to the Emirates – and they must be regretting that now.
That’s because Daka, a £23 million signing by Brendan Rodgers this past summer, offered a glimpse into his frightening potential on Wednesday night.
The Foxes won 4-3 away to Spartak Moscow in a Europa League clash – and Daka netted all four goals for the visitors.
With Arsenal duo Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both over 30, Edu and Arteta will need long-term replacements for the pair.
And Daka clearly would’ve been a fine successor for one of them in North London.
Here’s what Arsenal fans are saying about his four-goal heroics last night:
Attainable
This will sting more for Arsenal because, well, they could’ve got him.
No disrespect to Leicester, because clearly Rodgers has them on an upward trajectory.
But the Gunners are a much bigger club and if he signed for City, he might’ve just said okay to joining Arsenal, too.
He now has five goals in three starts under Rodgers across all competitions and in all likelyhood, both numbers are going to go through the roof from here on in.
