Jose Enrique has claimed that Liverpool star Andy Robertson is the best left-back in world football for him, arguing that he’s a level above Alphonso Davies.

The Reds’ deal to sign Robertson has proven one of the great bargains in English football.

When Hull City were relegated in 2017, Liverpool picked up the Scotland international for as little as £8 million.

And by virtue of the fact that Robertson has established himself as a key member of a squad that has reached two Champions League finals – winning one in 2019 – and lifted the Premier League trophy for the first time last summer, you could say it has proven to be an unbelievable piece of business.

Davies helped Bayern Munich to a treble last season and played a big part in the German giants taking Liverpool’s Champions League title.

The 20-year-old Canadian has such a bright future in the game, but Enrique, a former left-back himself, claims that the youngster isn’t at Robertson’s level just yet.

He told Sky Sports: “He has been the best left-back in the world for the last few years. I know everyone talks about Davies from Bayern Munich, but if you talk about consistency and level of performance, this guy is unbelievable.”
