Carlos Vinicius won’t be staying at Tottenham Hotspur for the long term, or so it seems.
According to Record in Portugal, Tottenham will send the Brazilian loanee back to Benfica at the end of the season rather than try and keep him in North London.
The big South American striker has managed 10 goals in 24 games for Spurs across all competitions this season.
But Vinicius has managed only 304 minutes of football in the Premier League – the equivalent of less than four full matches – and it’s clear that Jose Mourinho doesn’t rate him all that highly, with much of his action coming in the Europa League group stage against inferior opposition.
Still, some Tottenham fans have been impressed by the Benfica loanee – who’d cost £36 million if Daniel Levy wanted to sign him on a permanent basis – and here’s how some supporters of the North London club reacted to this report on Twitter:
The Lilywhites haven’t had much luck in signing stellar plan-b options for Harry Kane and although Vinicius has had his moments, there’s an argument to be made that he isn’t much of an upgrade on Fernando Llorente and honestly, paying £36 million for him would’ve been insanity.
