If rumours are believed, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Florian Thauvin.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Spurs are one of quite a few clubs keen on the Marseille winger, whose contract with the Ligue 1 side expires this summer.
Much of the speculation regarding Tottenham’s plans has centered around signing a centre-back.
But it seems like chairman Daniel Levy might be interested in a wide player too and here’s how fans of the North London club reacted to the rumour on Twitter:
Do Tottenham need a wide player? Well, no.
If Gareth Bale can only manage 160 minutes of Premier League football this season then that pretty much sums up the options that Jose Mourinho has.
In fact, the Portuguese has also played Moussa Sissoko on the wing this month, meaning that Mourinho has Bale, Sissoko, Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn as wide players, to name a few.
And frankly, a move for Thauvin simply makes very little sense.
