Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter to Gareth Bale being handed the ‘number 50’ shirt by Real Madrid on Sunday.
Carlo Ancelloti’s side recorded a goalless draw in pre-season against AC Milan, with Bale handed a start.
The free-kick specialist, who previously wore number 11 at the Bernabeu, returned from his loan spell at Spurs and was donning the number 50 shirt.
His previous number was being worn by his fellow left-footed counterpart, Marco Asensio.
It was an eventful game for Bale because, after bursting through on goal in the first half, he was brought down inside the penalty area.
But when he stepped up to take the spot-kick, his tame shot was comfortably saved by Mike Maignan.
It’s perhaps a sign for Bale that he has no future at the La Liga giants, especially given that he is in the final year of his Madrid contract.
Bale may have produced his best football under Ancelotti in Spain, but it seems as though even under him, the writing is on the wall.
Or in this case, at the back of his shirt.
