Ronaldo has told GE that he has every faith in Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus that the Gunners man will take his chance when given the game time – which could potentially come against Cameroon on Friday evening at the World Cup.
Jesus, 25, comes into the World Cup as second-choice striker to Tottenham man Richarlison. That is, after Jesus has failed to score for Arsenal in his last 11 games for the Gunners. His last goal was against Spurs on October 1.
Richarlison has got the nod in Brazil’s opening two group games. He scored a stunning brace in Brazil’s opener to beat Serbia 2-0, but struggled in his side’s 1-0 win over Switzerland. Manchester United’s Casemiro scored the only goal.
Indeed, Jesus came on in both games as a sub. Against Cameroon on Friday night, Jesus might be given the chance to start if Tite rests players – with Brazil already qualified and more than likely to top the group. Ronaldo gave his verdict.
“Gabriel today is one of the best strikers in the world and much more mature than in 2018. The goal will come naturally and this concern should not cross your mind. All he has to do is take the field and do what he knows how to do.”

Ronaldo has every faith in Arsenal star Jesus, could start on Friday
Indeed, Jesus is expected to start and while Tite is likely to make changes – he will still want his side to produce. They will want to go into the last 16 with nine points on the board, something that has not been done yet in Qatar.
France had the chance to do so on Thursday evening, but Didier Deschamps made 10 changes and suffered a 1-0 loss to Tunisia. Portugal could go through with three wins if they beat South Korea on Friday afternoon.
Can Jesus put the sword to Cameroon’s defence? Without a doubt. But it must be remembered that the Arsenal star is worth a lot more than just his goals – laying on seven assists alongside his five goals for the Gunners this season.
