The Tottenham Hotspur star’s contract expires in the summer of 2020.
Tottenham star Christian Eriksen told reporters how the club knows what he wants, with regards to ongoing new contract talks, and some Spurs fans took to Twitter in response to his comments.
The Dane spoke exclusively to TV3 Sport, and insisted that he is not thinking about a move away from Tottenham at all:
“I think people know what I want, and I know what [Tottenham] would like, and there is a good dialogue so there is nothing there [about the move rumours]. It’s not something I’m thinking of [the speculation]. I focus on playing football, and there are many battles you have to think about and which must be won. “It is not the first time that there have been rumours.”
Eriksen, 26, joined Spurs from Ajax in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £12.5 million, and he has gone on to rack up an impressive 62 goals and 78 assists in 252 appearances in all competitions.
The Denmark international is widely considered to be one of the best midfield play-makers in world football, and according to the Independent, Tottenham are prepared to pay him somewhere in between £200,000 and £250,00 per week in order to keep him at the club.
Erisken is surely worth that in today’s market, but whether he believes he can earn more at another club remains to be seen.
