Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing that Dennis Cirkin is in talks to join Sunderland on a permanent basis.
What’s the story?
Well, it was the Evening Standard who said that Lee Johnson’s side were in talks with Spurs over a deal for the 19-year-old.
Football London’s Alasdair Gold has added that it seems likely Cirkin will leave N17, after refusing to sign a new contract.
As you can see below, the Tottenham supporters are devastated.
Cirkin is very highly rated at Spurs, and he’s a player the club seemingly had high hopes for.
José Mourinho named him on the bench for some of Tottenham’s Premier League games.
The Portuguese coach also had him involved in first-team training, according to Football London.
It’s a big loss for Tottenham.
Fair play to Dennis Cirkin
The youngster deserves credit for making this bold decision.
It would’ve been very easy to stay at a leading Premier League club, surrounded by players like Heung-min Son and Harry Kane.
However, Cirkin has decided to take a step down into League One in search of regular first-team football, which he will hopefully get on Wearside.
Some Sunderland fans might be sceptical about a teenager walking straight into Johnson’s starting XI.
However, the reaction from horrified Tottenham fans below should ease any scepticism at the Stadium of Light.
