A familiar and yet almost-forgotten face was spotted in Liverpool training on Tuesday afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp put his side through their paces one last time before the Champions League clash away to Midtjylland this evening.
And a certain Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was among the Liverpool players who took part in the session.
The 27-year-old has been sidelined for the Reds all season.
But the German manager could do with the extra midfielder right now because of Fabinho’s role as a centre-back, combined with Thiago Alcantara’s prolonged absence.
Much of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s three-year spell on Merseyside has been decimated by injury.
But he’ll be hoping to get an extended run in the side now and here’s how some Liverpool fans reacted to the sight of his return on Tuesday:
This is actually quite an important month for the former Arsenal winger.
If Gini Wijnaldum winds up signing a new Liverpool deal before January, and Thiago makes his return, then will Klopp need Oxlade-Chamberlain?
With Naby Keita also there and enjoying a very decent season when fit, the England international just wouldn’t seem as important for the Reds as he once did and perhaps a loan away from Merseyside might be touted.
