Arsenal announced some very good news this morning.

The Gunners confirmed via their Twitter account that Karl Hein has signed a new long-term contract at the club.

Hein is still only 19 and remains a highly-rated young goalkeeper – and one who has senior caps for Estonia under his belt already.

And here’s how Arsenal fans are reacting on Twitter:

Triumph

This is a pretty big win for Mikel Arteta and Edu, it has to be said.

That’s because before today, Hein was leaving London Colney on a Bosman.

His previous deal was set to expire in the summer of 2022 and Football London claimed a number of months ago that negotiations had reached an impasse.

But Arteta and Edu clearly want to keep him and, in the end, that desire was enough for Hein it seems.

The teenage stopper hasn’t made a competitive debut yet, but he did start Arsenal’s pre-season defeat against Hibernian during the summer.

In addition to that, he also made the matchday squad on six occasions for Europa League games last season.

Bernd Leno’s long-term future at the Emirates Stadium seems pretty uncertain after the £30 million addition of Aaron Ramsdale last month, meaning that there could be chances for Hein – who is also competing with Arthur Okonkwo – in the years ahead.
