Tim Sherwood has been left wowed by Son Heung-min and how he is just ‘too good’ and a ‘manager’s dream’ after Tottenham Hotspur smashed out-of-sorts Leicester City 6-2 on Saturday.

The former boss added that Antonio Conte is ‘not going to lose’ a player of Son’s calibre, despite dropping him to the bench yesterday, because he can trust his character, as he told Premier League Productions (17/09/22 at 7:25 pm).

All of that character, attitude and fight was showcased by Son because, within 13 minutes, he knocked down an already-beaten-up Leicester side that are sitting bottom-of-the-table with one point from seven.

Given Leicester’s issues at the back this season, including from set-piece situations, the last thing you want to do is face a team of Tottenham’s attacking depth, aerial prowess and aggressive might.

From Harry Kane to Son on the bench, imagine if the South Korean star was in-form heading into yesterday’s game, well if you are a Leicester fan, then don’t imagine because it would have been utter carnage.

Either way, this is Son telling the world that he is still here after being dropped and possibly questioned, as Sherwood spoke highly about the player.

“This boy is just too good,” said Sherwood. He is going from strength to strength. There is a turning point for everyone when they have a slump in form, and in 20-odd minutes, he takes the match ball home. Brilliant, brilliant for the kid.

“I am not sticking my neck too out to say he will play in the next game, the north London derby – he has done his job. He has come off the bench and scored three goals in a short time. The quality of the finishes were magnificent.

“There isn’t one manager in world football who wouldn’t want that boy. For his quality, his determination and his character. He has everything. The whole package. He is a manager’s dream.

“You don’t want to lose a player of this quality. By leaving him out for one 90 minutes of football, he (Conte) would have known the character of this boy, he knows he’s not going to lose him. What he has done, you have to pat him on the back Conte. It’s good management.”

NEXT STOP? THE NORTH LONDON DERBY

From Tottenham’s perspective, what a time for Son to score his hat-trick because it has come just in time for the first north London derby of the season, which takes place after the international break.

Arsenal have also started the new Premier League season in a very strong fashion, but they will want to inflict the first defeat of the campaign on their bitter rivals.

It’s still early days, in terms of what will happen with the duo this term, but this would send out a statement of intent, if there is a winner in a few weeks.

No more so than from Spurs because, winning away in this fixture isn’t easy, especially now the two teams are riding a wave and are seriously fancying themselves to cause some damage.
