Rangers have loaned Dodoo to Charlton Athletic after he failed to break into Pedro Caixinha’s plans at Ibrox.
Joe Dodoo of Rangers
Joe Dodoo became the fifth player let go by Rangers this summer to score en debut for his new employers.
Signed by Charlton Athletic on a half-season loan two days earlier, the 22-year-old stepped off the bench to notch in the Addicks’ 4-2 win at Oldham on Saturday – following in the footsteps of Ibrox teammates past and present Joe Garner, Martyn Waghorn (both Ipswich), Barrie McKay (Nottingham Forest) and Michael O’Halloran (St Johnstone).
Joe Garner of Ipswich (no14)
Dodoo only managed five goals in 25 games for Rangers last season, and some Charlton fans had their doubts about his arrival from Ibrox.
However, many were quick to retract their early judgements after seeing him in action at Boundary Park.
Here’s what they have had to say about Dodoo’s display:
Signed by previous Rangers boss Mark Warburton from Leicester City a year ago, Dodoo remains under contract until 2020 at Ibrox.
And a productive spell at Charlton could force him into Pedro Caixinha’s plans come the new year.
