Jürgen Klopp has been speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Community Shield clash between Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Premier League champions take on the FA Cup winners at Wembley tomorrow, with kick-off commencing at 5pm.
Unfortunately, the Reds will be without Alisson and Diogo Jota due to injuries, but Klopp expressed his annoyance at something other than the absence of two key players.
What’s the story?
Well, the £192,307-a-week man is not happy with the timing of the Community Shield.
Klopp feels that his Liverpool squad are being overworked, as they had a longer 2021/22 campaign than most sides, but a shorter pre-season as well.
Interestingly, the 55-year-old also referred to how Germany deals with such a matter.
As quoted by Liverpool’s official website, Klopp said: “I like the competition but I think again here it would be possible to find another date for it maybe. We had a longer season than other teams and now we have a shorter pre-season than other teams.
“It makes not too much sense. Germany plays the Super Cup final and for that day the teams that are involved don’t have to play one cup round. There are opportunities but maybe we can think about that, or somebody can think about that.”

Now, the German made a habit of complaining about fixture scheduling last season, while he also campaigned heavily for the introduction of five substitutes.
Klopp got his wish with the latter, but it seems he still isn’t pleased with the footballing schedule.
Jürgen Klopp just has to get on with it at Liverpool
Thanks to the World Cup taking place in November this year, the 2022/23 season has the potential to be an organisational disaster.

Therefore, Klopp shouldn’t allow himself to get too worked up by fixture congestion, as there will surely be plenty of it throughout the campaign.
Having five substitutes to choose from should help massively, but if the Liverpool boss continues to complain about the schedule, he will surely find himself fighting a losing battle.
