Speaking on the All to Play For Podcast, Steve Sidwell has been discussing Jude Bellingham when compared to a 19-year-old Dele Alli.
Bellingham is undoubtedly one of the best young talents in world football, and many have claimed that it’s been quite a while since a young English midfielder has burst onto the scene in this way.
However, we mustn’t forget just how brilliant Dele Alli was at the same age as he took the Premier League by storm during his first couple of seasons at Tottenham.
Sidwell says he was asked about Alli in comparison to Bellingham earlier this week by his son, and he says it is tough to choose between the pair.

Alli vs Bellingham
Sidwell struggled to choose between these two talents.
“My eldest came to me and he had a question, he said ‘Dad, at 19 who was better, Jude Bellingham or Dele Alli?’ Straight away I said Jude, but when you think about it, Dele Alli at 19 in the Prem what he was doing for Spurs, that’s a tough one. That’s a great question,” Sidwell said.
Alli was better
It’s a bold statement to make, but it’s not hard to argue that Alli was better than Bellingham at this age.
Think about it, Bellingham, as good as he is, has never kicked a ball in the Premier League, meanwhile, Alli was one of the division’s best players at this age.
Sadly, Alli has since declined massively and is now struggling to make an impact over in Turkey, and we can only hope that Bellingham is spared from that same fate.
Alli had enormous potential as a youngster, but sadly, his career has gone off the rails.
