Mesut Özil has touched upon his exile at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, while hosting a Q&A session on Twitter yesterday.

The former Real Madrid maestro was asked if he’s ever enjoyed playing for Arsenal by a supporter.

In response to the question, Özil began to talk about his last few games for the club before Arteta stopped playing him.

He then says things ‘unfortunately changed…’ – his use of ellipsis only adds more intrigue and mystery to the situation.

You can see Özil’s two tweets in response to the question below.

The German’s situation at Arsenal right now is arguably the biggest mystery in football – nobody knows exactly why Arteta is treating him this way.

The 32-year-old hasn’t played for the Gunners since appearing against West Ham on March 7th 2020, where he assisted Alexandre Lacazette for the winning goal.

With his contract set to expire in June, it seems unlikely that the attacking midfielder will play for the club again.

In fact, Özil might even leave before his deal runs out.

According to Sky Germany, Fenerbahce are convinced they’re going to sign the Arsenal No.10 this month.

The report states that the Turkish Super Lig outfit want to sign him immediately.

It seems almost certain that the German has already played his final game for the Gunners.
