Jan Vertonghen has intimated that he has things in the pipeline as his Tottenham Hotspur career draws to a close.
The long-serving Belgium international, who joined Tottenham eight years ago, is weeks away from being released.
Vertonghen signed a short-term contract extension that’ll take him to the end of the 2019-20 campaign, but beyond that 33-year-old looks set to ply his trade elsewhere.
The former Ajax star, a £12 million signing in 2012, has now revealed that ‘things are moving a lot’ in regards to finding a new club, but refused to go into specifics.
He told Sports 24: “I can’t say much about it but things are moving a lot. Only, most of the teams are waiting for the end of the current competitions and to secure their tv rights.”
Despite his advancing years, Vertonghen shouldn’t have too much problem finding another elite club to join.
The defender, who only turned 33 in April, has been linked to a return to Ajax, while a move to Roma has also been mooted.
But no matter what happens, Vertonghen still has enough left in the tank to be a brilliant asset for somebody.
