Wembley proved to be memorable for Manchester United this season, but not everyone can say the same.

Months after leaving Manchester United on a loan deal, Jadon Sancho rocked up at Borussia Dortmund to turn his career around.

It was going unbelievably well for the 24-year-old because he helped guide underdogs Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final.

But the might of Real Madrid stood in their way and like they always do they secured a memorable 2-0 win at Wembley.

Jadon Sancho started the match, but was taken off towards the end when the game was all but over for the German club.

Even though, for an hour, Dortmund were the better team, as soon as Carlo Ancelotti’s side found that spark, they couldn’t be stopped and they punished their opponents.

Thierry Henry touched upon how ‘we noticed’ that Edin Terzic’s side were getting ‘tired’, hence why he was the first to make a change in the game.

Whilst ‘fresh legs’ were added, it meant that they lost momentum and they got punished for it.

Henry didn’t blame the man in Dortmund dugout for making the change by using Sancho and Karim Adeyemi as examples.

The legendary striker stated that the duo ‘weren’t bringing that ball anymore’ and it was right to take them off, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (01/06/24 at 10:25 pm).

“We noticed it, Dortmund were starting to get tired,” said Henry. “We talked about it. Adeyemi wasn’t bringing that ball anymore. Jadon Sancho wasn’t bringing that ball anymore. I know Adeyemi was playing well. But he was dead.

“I just think he (Edin Terzic) just wanted to put some fresh legs to be able to bring the ball on the other side, like they were doing in the first half, more often than not. That’s why he went for the change.

“At one point, you let the game decide what is going to happen and then they were tired. That’s why he went first with the switch.”

Will Jadon Sancho be at Manchester United next season?

A lot probably depends on ten Hag and whether or not he stays at the club.

As of this moment, even the Dutchman himself doesn’t seem the wiser and he couldn’t give a straight answer after his side’s FA Cup final win.

On one hand, some will claim that Sancho is better off in Germany because he can perform on that stage.

But the Premier League platform is too tough for him because he hasn’t performed on it as he should be doing.

Sancho needs to also remember that, despite getting to the Champions League final, he still won’t be playing at Euro 2024 for England and many think it was the right call by Gareth Southgate.
