Arsenal legend hails Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.

While Chelsea are running away with the Premier League, the individual award for player of the season remains one of the most open in years.

Former Arsenal star Thierry Henry is in little doubt over who should get the honour though, tipping current Gunners hero Alexis Sanchez.

Henry commented via Twitter that he feels Sanchez has provided the best all round performances and would be deserving of the end of the season award.

He also added that there were several who should be in the reckoning, including Tottenham striker Harry Kane and midfielder Dele Alli.

Henry’s praise of Sanchez comes just over 24 hours after the forward put in a dismal display against Chelsea, with his side beaten 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

In terms of combined goals and assists through the season though, Sanchez has the most in the Premier League, 23 in total. Tottenham’s Harry Kane has 17, playing five games fewer due to injury.

According to bookies SkyBet, Sanchez is only fifth favourite in the running, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard backed at 5/2 to land the PFA Award.

He is followed by teammate Diego Costa 9/2, with Dele Alli and Ngolo Kante at 8/1, with Sanchez at 9/1 along with Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
