Thierry Henry has praised the ‘efficiency’ that is now in Raheem Sterling’s game compared to when he was at Liverpool, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (15/02/22 at 10:20 pm).
The Premier Legend claimed that Sterling has to play ‘all the time’ for Manchester City after his wondergoal in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s side thrashed Sporting Lisbon 5-0 during their first-leg last-16 encounter, with Sterling curling his effort from distance into the top corner.
It has been seven years since Sterling swapped the colours of Liverpool for those on the blue half of Manchester for £49 million (BBC Sport).
Henry stated that, back in his Liverpool days, that goal Sterling scored yesterday would have ‘ended up in the stadium at Everton’, but now he is dispatching them.
“This is what I am saying, he scored one like that against Southampton a couple of years ago during the dying moments of the game,” said Henry.
“Before, when he was at Liverpool, that would have ended up in the stadium at Everton.
“But now it goes into the back of the net. Efficiency. This is a guy that has to play all the time.”

When Sterling initially opted to move to the Etihad, it was met with controversy given that he was leaving one of the biggest clubs in England for one of the richest.
Whilst the Reds will forever be a bigger club than Man City, the England international has done the business over the years.
From winning Premier League titles to scoring over 100 Premier League goals, it has been some journey from the player.
But one trophy still eludes him and his Man City side and that’s winning the European Cup.
