Everton were said to be in competition with Monaco for Michy Batshuayi.

Thierry Henry’s sacking at Monaco could potentially benefit Everton, if they are still after Michy Batshuayi.

The Liverpool Echo had reported how Monaco appeared to be Everton’s main rivals for the Chelsea striker, but the Ligue 1 side’s decision to part ways with Henry now puts their transfer plans on hold.

Monaco will have to look for a new manager, which could give Everton the perfect opportunity to bring in Batshuayi, without facing any competition.

Marco Silva has suggested that Everton are not in the financial conditions to make any signings this January.

However, Everton do appear to need a striker, and Batshuayi is thought to be on their radar.

Whether the Toffees could now consider the transfer opportunity too good to turn down remains to be seen.

Batshuayi has shown a clinical streak at both Marseille and Borussia Dortmund previously in his career, and he could enhance the quality of Everton’s attack, if he was to move to Goodison Park.
