Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is under huge pressure.

Aston Villa’s 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday has once again piled the pressure on manager Steve Bruce, with fans still disgruntled.
Villa ended a run of five games without a win in midweek with a 2-0 home victory over Rotherham United, but a home defeat has again left Bruce under huge pressure.
Villa’s underwhelming start to the season – even with recent signings such as John McGinn, Anwar El Ghazi, Yannick Bolasie and Tammy Abraham – means that many fans are calling for Bruce to go.
His fairly dour brand of football has left Villa fans frustrated, and the problem for Bruce is that one Premier League legend is something of a persistent threat to his job.
Back in July, the Daily Star reported a rumour that Villa’s new owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens were unconvinced by Bruce, and were looking to bring in Thierry Henry as his replacement.
The former Ballon d’Or runner-up has been working with the Belgium national team under Roberto Martinez, but is looking to step into management – and his decision to reject Bordeaux over the summer means that he remains looking for a first managerial gig.

The longer it goes with Bruce struggling and Henry still looking for a managerial job, the louder the calls for the Frenchman to take his job at Villa Park will become, with fans already taking to Twitter regularly to call for the former Arsenal and Barcelona man to come in.
Edens and Sawiris were seemingly drawn to Henry over the summer before eventually sticking with Bruce, but Henry’s availability makes him a persistent threat to Bruce, who is already under threat of the sack without having an Henry-shaped cloud over him.
