Thierry Henry has heaped praise on Tottenham striker Harry Kane on CBS Sports on Tuesday night despite Spurs losing 1-0 to AC Milan in the San Siro – with Kane and Spurs actually performing well, without finding the back of the net.

Kane, 29, led the line once again in an injury-ravaged Spurs side that saw Yves Bissouma, Hugo Lloris and Uruguayan star Rodrigo Bentancur all missing. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was suspended – but the Dane is back for the second leg.

Oliver Skipp and Pape Sarr formed a midfield duo, both making Champions League debuts for Spurs. Fraser Forster, Clement Lenglet, Emerson Royal and Ivan Perisic started the match. Kane has been in superb form for Spurs this term.

But he failed to add to his 19 goals this season – a record which has taken him above Jimmy Greaves to 267 goals for the club. Brahim Diaz scored the only goal of the game, but the narrow win does leave the tie completely up in the air.

Speaking about Kane, Arsenal legend Henry set aside his North London allegiances to lavish praise on the current England man. He told CBS Sports that he believes Tottenham’s no.10 has become a “complete” player over the years.

“He has become complete, he became an all around player and this is what I like about him,” Henry told CBS Sports on Tuesday night, when discussing Kane. “We all know what he can do and all know what he can do in the box.

“What he does outside of the box now for his team this is something that I have to respect massively. He has become a complete striker,” Henry added. Asked if City would be better with Kane, over Erling Haaland, he said: “I think so”.

These next few months are absolutely crucial for Tottenham, Kane and the future of the club. Spurs need to finish in the top four – or they will find themselves selling Kane, losing Antonio Conte. The club will slide without those two men.

Kane is the heartbeat of Spurs but without Champions League football, you would suggest that Kane and Conte will be off. Winning the FA Cup could tempt both to stay, but playing in Europe’s elite competition is a necessity for both.
