Thierry Henry comments on Arsenal’s title chances

Arsenal have begun the 2015-16 Premier League campaign with seven points out of a possible 12.

Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry believes that Arsenal’s current showing is not good enough to win the Premier League title and has highlighted their lack of goals as a key weakness, the Daily Star reports.

The Gunners headed into the campaign with fresh optimism over a potential title challenge, but they have collected just seven points from their opening four matches, scoring just three goals in the process.

While away victories over Crystal Palace and Newcastle United have been welcoming, Arsene Wenger’s side’s home form is real area for concern as is their lack of goals.

Speaking to the Daily Star on his former side’s current predicament, Henry said that he feels big improvements must be made as currently they look a long way short of a potential Premier League title winner

“Right now, they are already five points behind Manchester City, have still not won at home and won two of their games by an own goal – which is actually their best goalscorer at the moment,” Henry told the Daily Star.

“It does not look like they are going to win the league like this.”

Lack of goals:

The biggest area for concern for Arsenal manager Wenger is his side’s lack of goals, especially considering that they have created the most chances and taken the most shots in the league.

According to the table provided by Opta Stats, the Gunners have in theory been the best attacking team in the league but with just three goals – two own goals – to their name, something isn’t quite right.

A lack of prolificacy is evident, and it further raises questions as to why boss Wenger opted against bringing in a new striker during the summer transfer window.
