Thierry Henry claims ‘managers don’t trust’ £58m star keen on Newcastle transfer

Thierry Henry has slammed Newcastle transfer target Christian Pulisic and urged the Chelsea star to ‘find a way’ to turn his career around, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (05/10/22 at 10:15 pm).

On Wednesday night, Graham Potter opted against bringing Pulisic off the bench during Chelsea’s 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League.

After struggles for rhythm, performances and consistency under Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel, and the early days of new boss Potter, Henry raised a question to USA’s captain ‘how many managers aren’t going to trust you?’.

Like many players up and across the world, who are heading to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar next month, regular game time is paramount for their form, sharpness and fitness levels.

Given that Pulisic is one of the USA’s main men, and the one donning the captain’s armband, then it’s not helpful that he has played less than 200 minutes so far this season. 

So far, under his new boss, he has played only 12 minutes, as Henry sent a bleak message to the player that he probably needs to start looking at himself in the mirror.

“At one point, you have to bring something to the table,” said Henry. “How many managers aren’t going to trust you? It has to be you, at one point.

“So, find a way. The other day, Conor Gallagher came on against Palace (and scored a last-minute winner). Yes, I know he (Pulisic) gave him the ball and Conor Gallagher still had to score that goal and it will go down as an assist.

“At one point show us something and then maybe you can be fit for the World Cup for the US team.

“But how many managers aren’t going to trust you? At one point, it’s going to be you. You have to show something.”

WILL PULISIC JOIN NEWCASTLE?

There was heavy interest in Pulisic talents during the summer transfer window, from various Premier League teams, including Newcastle.

Despite the summer window slamming shut, it seems as though Newcastle will knock on Chelsea’s door for their £58 million player in January and he is open to moving.

For the betterment of the American’s career, he needs to leave Stamford Bridge because he will just continue to stagnate, otherwise.

It doesn’t help matters for him, ahead of the World Cup because, somewhere and somehow, he needs to find some sharpness, or else he’s heading to Qatar half-cooked.
