Tottenham Hotspur are currently one point behind Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Thierry Henry and Graeme Souness have disagreed on Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 17th October, over who has the better squad – Tottenham Hotspur or Arsenal.

Henry feels that the Gunners still have a superior amount of strength in depth than their North London rivals.

However, Souness believes that Tottenham have the stronger squad, and are genuine title contenders this season.

“I think the way Arsenal have been playing right now, Arsenal have the better squad,” Henry said, when asked which North London side have more quality.

“Tottenham just conceded their first open play goal against West Brom, I think the unit of Tottenham is very impressive. The way they defend, the team is working ever so well and really hard. But in terms of squad, in depth, Arsenal have a better squad.”

Souness quickly responded, saying: “I disagree with Thierry. I think it’s close, both goalkeepers are top goalkeepers. Tottenham have a better back four. It’s debatable who is better going forward from that. But Tottenham’s age group, and the mix they have, can only get better. I still see them as a really big threat to winning the league this year.”

Tottenham have certainly closed the gap on Arsenal since Mauricio Pochettino took charge, but they did finish one place below them last season.

Spurs are currently below Arsenal in the Premier League standings so far this season too, but the fierce rivals look set to be battling it out for local pride once again this term.

As things stand Arsenal are one point clear at Tottenham, but the Lilywhites can boast the only unbeaten record in the top flight.

Arsenal’s next Premier League match comes against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, while Spurs are due to face Bournemouth on Saturday.
