Liverpool fans think that the money they are about to receive from Dejan Lovren’s sale could be used to finance a bid for Thiago Alcantara of Bayern Munich.
Lovren is set to leave Liverpool to join Zenit St Petersburg, according to The Times.
Zenit have been in discussions over signing Lovren for some time now, and appear to have agreed a fee with Liverpool for the centre-back.
The Russian side are willing to pay £10.9 million for the 31-year-old centre-back.
And Liverpool fans seem to believe that they have done great business getting such a fee for the experienced defender, as they feel the fee can be put towards buying Thiago.
Lovren has come in for some criticism from Liverpool fans this season, but Jurgen Klopp has always stressed how important the Croatian was to his side.
Lovren may have been Liverpool’s fourth choice centre-back this term, but he still managed to rack up 15 appearances this season across all competitions.
His departure could see Liverpool enter the market for a more defensive cover, otherwise they may be left short of options next season.
Liverpool could, otherwise, opt to spend the money elsewhere on their squad – with Thiago heavily linked with a move to Anfield by SportBild this month.
