Well, Liverpool look set to be without Thiago Alcantara for a couple of weeks.

The Premier League champions confirmed on Tuesday that the Spain international had tested positive for the medical complaint that has spread across the globe in 2020.

Thiago finally joined Liverpool a couple of weeks ago following months and months worth of speculation about him coming to Merseyside.

And the Reds fans were given a taste of his pedigree in the 2-0 win away to Chelsea earlier this month.

In it, Thiago, who came on at half-time, set a new Premier League record for 75 passes – the most any top-flight player has made in a 45-minute period since records began during the 2003-04 campaign.

But the 29-year-old seems in good spirits, writing, ‘Time to heal’ in a short Twitter message – and here’s how Liverpool fans responded to their new hero:

The good news is that Thiago will probably only miss a couple of games – a League Cup visit of Arsenal on Thursday, followed by a Premier League clash at Anfield Villa next Sunday.

After that there is an international break and the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona star should be ready to rock and roll again after that.
