Roy Keane said on Sky Sports Football (7:05pm, December 20, 2020) that Leeds United will have learnt a lesson from the defeat to Manchester United.
The United legend, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Leeds will escape the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side went down 6-2 to United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
The result means that the West Yorkshire club are 14th in the Premier League table at the moment with 17 points from 14 matches, as many as seven points above the relegation zone.
Keane said about Leeds on Sky Sports Football (7:05pm, December 20, 2020): “The key for Leeds is survival. With the points total they have so far, I think it’s been outstanding. I think Leeds will be fine, I think they will be fine.”
The United legend added when asked about Leeds’s style of football: “I love it. I think it’s brilliant. We talk about sport being entertainment, that’s what they did today.
“And they’ve had a lesson from Man United. Man United are a very, very good team, yeah, but overall, that manager, we were talking about changing his ways, but his belief is what makes him a great coach.”
Staying in the Premier League
Leeds were very entertaining against United and could have scored more than the two goals that they did.
However, it cannot be denied that the Whites conceded as many as six goals and could have shipped in more.
Head coach Bielsa is not going to change his playing style and he should not, but the Argentine has to make his team tighter at the back and make them more difficult to score against.
