Jeremie Aliadire has said that it’s imperative former club Arsenal cashes in on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when the transfer window opens.
The Gabon international is heavily linked with a move away from North London.
Aubameyang, who has 49 Premier League goals in only 75 games, is contracted to Arsenal until next summer, meaning that the Gunners have a dilemma.
The North Londoners either must sell their best and most important player – who turns 31 in June – this summer or risk losing him for nothing 12 months from now.
And Aliadiere has said it’s ‘100 percent’ obvious that his old side must do their utmost to avoid the latter scenario by selling him this summer.
He told Goal: “They’ve got to sell him, 100 per cent.
“Arsenal can’t keep losing players on a free. To be honest, I still can’t believe we’ve again got a top player, our captain, going into the summer only having one year left on his contract.”
It’ll hurt Arsenal fans to admit, but on a footballing level and a business one, it makes total sense to get rid of Aubameyang if he isn’t going to sign a new deal – and he reportedly has no intention of it.
He’s potentially the closest the North Londoners have seen to Thierry Henry since the man himself – and even reached the 50-goal barrier for Arsenal quicker than the Frenchman did – but they really aren’t holding a lot of cards here, it has to be said.
