Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been discussing Bernardo Silva and the ongoing interest from Barcelona in the midfielder.

Silva was courted by Barcelona all summer long, and while the player remains at Manchester City for now, the Portuguese ace has made it clear behind the scenes that he wants to join Barca next summer – much to City’s displeasure.

Indeed, according to Bailey, City are far from happy with Silva and his behaviour here, and the journalist is confident that the player will be leaving the club next summer.

What’s been said?

Bailey spoke about Silva.

“Our understanding is that Bernardo has made it clear to City that he does want to join Barcelona next summer and Barcelona still want him. It hasn’t gone down well with City this, at all. They were never going to let him go but Barcelona tried their best this window. It’s fascinating this and I know from inside City that they’re not happy with this,” Bailey said.

“it’s been the one real negative, this Silva one was a real negative in this window it was a real outlier and it was unusual. They won’t stand in his way because they won’t put up with this behaviour. In terms of PR, Bernardo’s people won’t let this one lie, so we’ll probably hear quite regularly that he’s headed to Catalonia until he does head there next summer.”

Still performing

Silva may be kicking up a bit of a fuss behind the scenes at the Etihad, but he’s still performing brilliantly on the pitch.

Sadly, according to Bailey’s information, things are turning sour with Silva and City, but as the consummate professional, the player isn’t allowing the transfer speculation surrounding him to affect his performances on the pitch.

Whether or not Silva leaves next summer remains to be seen, and while City may not be happy with his situation, it’s hard to imagine Pep Guardiola dropping him anytime soon due to his fantastic form in recent months.
