Calvin Ramsay officially joined Liverpool on Sunday morning.
The transfer was considered imminent for a few days and the Reds confirmed that the 18-year-old Scot had joined from Aberdeen.
Ramsay has signed for Liverpool for around £8.5 million and being only a teenager still, this is another addition for the future.
There was good and bad news about the announcement.
The good news was that, well, it’s always a positive thing when your club has officially captured a player, no matter how young.
The bad news is that Paul Joyce reported for The Times last week that once the Ramsay deal was done, it would signal the end of Liverpool’s transfer business until January.
However, that might not be entirely accurate.
That’s because Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam revealed live on air yesterday afternoon that the Reds were ‘definitely not done’ as far as spending is concerned.
He said: “They’re definitely not done. Liverpool have a plan and a strategy – you can see that in their three signings. Darwin Nunez is ready to rock and roll, with Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, you have two young players who are raw but talented.”
After all, Sadio Mane hasn’t even left for Bayern Munich yet, although it’s imminent.
But Darwin Nunez, an £85 million signing last week, was given the number 27 shirt, left vacated by Divock Origi.
And Mane was the proud owner of the club’s famous number 10 shirt on Merseyside – and no doubt some Liverpool supporters might believe that someone else, perhaps a new face, will come in to take that jersey.
It remains to be seen who – if anybody – else is being signed for Liverpool this summer.
But if McAdam is right, then Klopp might have another surprise in store and that’s always an exciting prospect.
