Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Bukayo Saka’s future at Arsenal amid a few whispers that Chelsea are interested.
The Gunners winger’s season ignited last weekend with a stellar performance against Liverpool, and he followed that up with a goal against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.
Inevitably, Saka making headlines has led to more questions about his new contract, and according to Jacobs, there are no issues on that front.
However, the journalist did state that Saka is more than happy to use Chelsea’s interest to his advantage and negotiate better terms on his Arsenal deal.

Saka using Chelsea
Jacobs shared what he knows about the winger.
“I don’t think Chelsea can stop this. If anything they’re being used as leverage as the final points are ironed out around this deal. So Saka is untouchable. Arsenal will not sell him in the short-term to a Premier League rival. The player really enjoys working with Arteta, he’s in excellent form,” Jacobs said.
“He was really impressed by the Arsenal family and the way they picked him up after his penalty miss, and Arsenal really went above and beyond to build his confidence and now he couldn’t be in a better place.
“He’s absolutely intent on staying once the terms are thrashed out and Arsenal will not allow another club to jump in here, but that’s not to say Chelsea aren’t interested or won’t try their luck.”
Why wouldn’t he?
Saka seems intent on staying at Arsenal, but if he thinks he can find a way to get himself better terms, why wouldn’t he?
Yes, football should be about more than money and we love to think that our players are just blindly loyal to our clubs, but the reality is that this is a short career and if there’s money to be made, footballers should be taking the chance.
If Saka wants to use this reported Chelsea interest to get more out of Arsenal more power to him.
