Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing Hugo Ekitike and a potential move to Newcastle United for the Frenchman.
The Magpies have been linked with Ekitike for months now, but after a tumultuous summer, the deal is currently not set to go ahead due to the player’s agent making some outlandish demands.
Indeed, according to Jones, Newcastle pulled out of the deal due to Ekitike’s agent, but, he says that the interest is still there from United and if the terms on this deal were to change, the move could be revived.

Jones spoke about Ekitike and Newcastle.
“That all got a bit messy because at the end it was all a bit strange. The agent demands were so complicated. Basically from what I heard he wanted money from sections of the deal where you wouldn’t usually get it. It became very complicated, but Newcastle still would sign him, if the terms of that deal would change they would still sign him because they really like him,” Jones said.

Ekitike to Newcastle appeared to be dead in the water at one point, but it sounds as though there is still an outside chance of this happening.
With PSG falling short of the player’s valuation with their opening bid, the door could now be ajar for Newcastle to come back in for the striker.
Yes, his agent is looking to fleece the Magpies slightly, but his demands could change as desperation sets in.
Ekitike’s stock is about as high as it’s ever going to be, and the player will be looking for a move this summer, so if a transfer to PSG isn’t possible, don’t be shocked if he’s once again offered to Newcastle.
