Speaking on the Anfield Watch YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool would rather sign Renato Sanches than Yves Bissouma.
Liverpool have been linked with moves for both Sanches and Bissouma this summer, but Romano says that Sanches is higher up their list of targets than the Brighton man.
What’s been said?
Romano was asked about the Bissouma situation after recent links.
“I am told that he’s (Bissouma) been scouted, they appreciate the player, but at the moment he’s not one of the priorities. In the list they would prefer somebody like Renato (Sanches), if they have to do something in this position,” Romano said.
“I don’t know who the midfielder will be yet, because they are not in advanced talks yet, but Bissouma is not one of the priorities or first in the list at the moment, so we need to wait a bit and see what happens, but I don’t expect Bissouma to happen in some days or some weeks.”

Mistake
Is this a mistake by Liverpool?
Yes, Sanches is a former Golden Boy winner who has been shining with Lille this year, but it’s impossible to discount the fact he’s already struggled in the Premier League on one occasion with Swansea City.
Meanwhile, Bissouma is proven in this division, shining last year with Brighton, and you’d have to feel that he’d slot into the Reds’ midfield with ease.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not either player is signed, but if Liverpool go for Sanches over Bissouma they will be taking a bit of a risk.
